Two weeks is not normally an amount of time to get excited about. In this case though, two weeks is amazing. It has been two weeks since the last time mom has been to see a doctor. In the world of ER visits and hospital stays, making it to two weeks without any sight of a doctor (unless you count Kim!) is no small feat!
So, two weeks after our last follow-up with Dr. Vickers, mom's surgeon, we find ourselves back at the U of MN for three appointments.
10:30am > Dr. Strike: Infectious Disease Specialist
We will find out what the nodules on her lungs, discovered during the CT prior to the Whipple procedure, are and how to treat them. Also of interest would be if treatment of these would delay the start of chemo.
11:30am > Lab Appointment
Labs drawn to see values related to how mom's recovery is going. Of most interest will be protein levels. If protein levels are high enough the dreaded G-tube can come out!!
1:15pm > Dr. Vickers: Surgical Follow-up
Hopefully, the G-tube will get removed and recovery will be sufficient that Dr. Vickers is comfortable with mom starting chemo again.
Fingers crossed for all good news!
